|

The top cocktail in the UK has been unveiled and it’s a classic. The announcement comes via Maxima Kitchen Equipment, who collected Google search data to discover Britain’s number one adult mixed beverage choice.

It’s the Mojito!

While many might have thought the margarita might have been making moves, it’s the rum-based mint cocktail that has come out on top. The mojito racked up 91,600 Google searches each month. Long a hated order for busy bartenders, it turns out to be one of the easier drinks to make at home, when it comes to ingredients that is.

Finishing second ws another classic summer rum cocktails, the Piña Colada. Not the easiest cocktails to make at home, it still manages to bring smiles to all sippers with its creaming, refreshing flavor profile

One of our favorites, the Espresso Martini, came in third, racking up 82,700 searches per month. If you’re looking for a bit of an adventure to pair with your coffee-based cocktail, then you might want to head to Insomnia in Edinburgh, where they are currently serving 20 variations with plans to get up to 50 by the end of the year.

Sex on the Beach, Pornstar Martini, Margarita, Negroni, Old Fashioned, Long Island Iced Tea, and Sangria roundout the top 10 in that order.

“The cocktail industry has grown more and more profitable over recent years however, these search numbers are bigger than anticipated, suggesting that cocktails are now a staple of British culture regardless of if they are consumed at home or at bars,” said a spokesperson for Maxima Kitchen Equipment.

We’re just wondering what’s happened to classics like the Manhattan or John Lennon’s favorite, the Brandy Alexander. Most of all, we’re disappointed James Bond’s classic Vesper Martini isn’t anywhere on the list. It’s 3 ounces gin, 1 ounce vodka, 1/2 ounce Lillet blanc aperitif, and garnished with a lemon twist, in case you’re wondering.
