Writers’ Tears Shares New Cask Strength Release

Good news for lovers of Irish Whiskey. Walsh Whiskey Distillery has just shared the latest edition of its Writers’ Tears Cask Strength expression.

The 54.2% ABV liquid is created when the producer brings together two whiskeys – a single pot still and a single malt – both of which are triple distilled, non-chill-filtered and matured in Bourbon barrels. This latest bottling is the 11th release of the super-premium spirit.

On the nose, the expression delivers aromas of wild berries and orchard fruits, while the palate offers spiced ginger and creamy notes.

Speaking about the new release Bernard Walsh, Walsh Whiskey co-founder, said:

“Cask strength Irish whiskey is still quite rare, but our vatting combining both pot still and single malt is truly unique. While still a very limited number, we are pleased to be able to offer some 6,000 bottles this year to our growing worldwide community.”

Of the 6,000 bottles available, 1,500 will be dedicated to the US market, and the rest will be distributed in Ireland, Canada, Austria, France, Germany, Holland, Russia and the UK, as well as through travel retail.

Writers’ Tears Cask Strength retails at US$150 per 700ml.

In November, Writers’ Tears Irish Whiskey unveiled the 2020 vintage of its Cask Strength Whiskey. It was the 10th annual release of the super-premium expression and the first to appear in the Walsh Whiskey-owned brand’s new bottle and packaging. The 2020 release was limited to just 3,000 individually numbered bottles, signed by Writers’ Tears creator and Walsh Whiskey Co-founder – Bernard Walsh.

Earlier that month, Writers’ Tears Irish Whiskey revealed a full range rebrand that included changes to its bottle, label, and packaging. The bottle’s top will now feature a cork and will feature a large glass teardrop embossed onto the bottle-shoulder, above and to the front of the main label.
