Chivas has partnered with French designer Balmain to launch two limited-edition whiskies. The collaborative bottles boast both house’s shared ethos of heritage, innovation and boldness.
The Balmain x Chivas XV collection marries Chivas XV blended Scotch whisky with cues from the Parisian fashion house in two special-edition bottle designs. Developed in partnership with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing. Intertwined with Chivas’ iconic luckenbooth, the bottles are adorned in metallic armor and chain-link designs paying homage to the fashion house’s signature oversized gold chain runway pieces. Each bottle is individually numbered and arrives draped in a luxury gold gradient finish.
Rousteing said the gold chain motif symbolises the “defiant spirit” and “bold and audacious attitude” of Balmain – a characteristic that he feels the house shares with Chivas. “Just like Balmain, Chivas has always adhered to the highest standards with neither house being afraid to push boundaries and break with outdated conventions,” he said.
Chivas XV is selectively finished in French cognac casks – making it the natural partner to luxury French fashion house Balmain. It is aged for 15 years, bringing rich and fruity flavours of sultanas, warm cinnamon and butterscotch to the palate.
The limited-edition designs – The First Drop, adorned with gold chains and metallic armour, and The Second Drop, styled around Balmain’s distinctive silhouette with chains and belts – are now available globally at specialist retailers. The First Drop is priced at £160/€175/$217 and The Second Drop at £70/€84/$104.
To celebrate the launch, Chivas and Balmain will be inviting fans to join the ‘Balmain Army’ through a series of activations, including pop-up bars appearing worldwide and at select Fashion Weeks.
