Edmond de Rothschild Launches Limited-Edition Sélection Parcellaire Baron Edmond 2016

Edmond de Rothschild Heritage Château des Laurets

For just the second time, Edmond de Rothschild Heritage’s Château des Laurets has released 36 special limited edition magnums and 36 bottles of its Sélection Parcellaire cuvée prestige Baron Edmond. Hailing from the fantastic 2016 vintage, each bottle is an individual and unique work of art, hand crafted with the wine in bottle by engraver and etcher Gilles Chabrier.

The wine comes from a selection of just four of the 40 hectares of the estate’s best Merlot plots, which encircle the Château. The vines are about 70 years of age and are planted in soil made of limestone and glay on the most elevated part of the vineyard. The wine has been aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels.

Earlier this month, the wine was revealed at a special dinner at Hotel Le Meurice on Rue de Rivoli in central Paris.

Bottled at 14.5% ABV and made from 100% Merlot, the Chateau des Laurets Sélection Parcellaire Baron Edmond 2016 arrives bright and deep without too much oak. On the palate it’s juicy, delicate, and energetic, showing off its terroir with unique minerality and a soft spiciness. A ballerini of a wine, both powerful and flexible, it is expected to be an excellent candidate for cellaring for the next decades.
