Martell Cordon Bleu

Martell Cordon Bleu

Martell Cordon Blue is a legendary Cognac. First bottled in 1912 by Edouard Martell, the great-grandson of the House’s founder, Cordon Bleu is the brand’s flagship spirit. For many connoisseurs’ it’s their favorite Martell expression, and it remains the star of its core range. When you’re looking for a special Cognac for a special night, you can’t go wrong with Bleu.

Cordon Bleu uses eaux de vie matured between 10 and 25 years in Tronçais oak. Grapes from four regions of Cognac are used the spirit, but it’s the house’s signature Borderies fruits that are the most prominent, helping give the spirit its distinguished bold flavor.

A deep golden copper in color, Martell Cordon Blue explodes on the nose with vibrant, rich aromas of candied plum and apple that blend seamlessly with notes of roasted coffee and almonds. Well-rounded and complex character filled with caramel, sweet spices, gingerbread and roasted cocoa beans.

Cordon Bleu should be saved for special occasions and is best enjoyed neat or with a spah of water.

Founded by Jean Martell in 1715, Martell is one of the original Cognac houses. From the start, the house has given specific attention to the grapes from the Borderies subregion and the use of Tronçais oak for its casks. This differentiates it from many other French Brandies, who focus on eaux de vie made from grapes grown in Fine Champagne (the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions). The House was purchased by Seagram in 1987, which was in turn bought by Pernod Ricard in 2001, who now owns the brand.

Other products in their range include Noblige Cognac, VSOP Medallion, XO, Perspective Martell Chanteloup, Création Grand Extra, Cohiba, L’Or de Jean Martell, and Blue Swift, which is finished in ex-Bourbon barrels.
