Aberlour Is Releasing Just 39 Bottles Of One Of Its Oldest Whiskies

Aberlour 39 Cellar Collection

Speyside distillery Aberlour is giving fans a rare chance to own one of its rarest whiskies without having to head deep into Scotland. Previously only available at the distillery, 30 bottles of the Aberlour Cellar Collection 39 Years Old are being made available online.

The Aberlour Cellar Collection 39-Year-Old is one of the distillery’s oldest releases to date; with the spirit having been distilled as far back as 1980 and then being laid to mature for 39 years, exclusively in 1st Fill American Oak Barrels. Only 102 Bottles of the rare Scotch have ever been produced.

On the nose, the whisky offers sweet notes of toffee apples, strawberry tart, syrupy flapjacks, and cream soda with hints of pink grapefruit and tangerine. The palate delivers ripe and juicy peaches, tangy blood orange, vanilla custard, and raspberry sauce with gentle touches of fresh mint and crystallized ginger. The finish is fruity and slightly sweet.

Bottled at 45.5% ABV, the 39-year-old bottling is only available via online ballot and priced at £5,500 ($6,720 USD).

Registration for the ballot opens on Friday 2nd December 2022 at 9:00am BST and closes on Friday 9th December 2022 at 12.00pm. Entrants will be selected at random and contacted with a personalized access code so they are able to claim their purchase.
