Hennessy Teams Up With Artist Jean-Michel Othoniel To Launch $39,000 Hennessy XO Masterpiece

Hennessy XO Masterpiece

Sculptor Jean-Michel Othoniel and Hennessy have come together to launch the new limited-edition XO Masterpiece as we as a Hennessy XO Limited Edition

Hennessy and sculptor Jean-Michel Othoniel have teamed up to launch the limited edition Hennessy XO Masterpiece, a €35,000 ($39,000 USD) combinations of luxurious limited-edition cognac and fine art.

“I’ve had a longstanding relationship with Hennessy, spanning over 20 years. Through mutual respect and shared vision, we’ve cultivated a bond that I’m proud to see manifest in this project. This collaboration has enriched my creative universe, and I’m thrilled to introduce contemporary art to new audiences.”

This isn’t the first time LVMH has fused luxury spirit with fine art. Hennessy has long been committed to working alongside talented artists, having previously collaborated with architect Daniel Libeskind, fashion designers Tom Dixon and Kim Jones, and now Othoniel.

“Working with esteemed artists, designers, and architects worldwide is an integral part of Maison’s identity and history,” notes Hennessy CEO Laurent Boilot. “It reaffirms our dedication to creativity and craftsmanship. Our collaboration with Jean-Michel Othoniel elevates our XO collection, infusing it with his masterful use of light, color and crystal.”

Utilizing a balance of traditional and innovative artistic techniques, the Hennessy XO Masterpiece decanter reflects Othoniel’s fascination with light, color, and crystal. The decanter itself comes in a case of hand-carved oak, protecting it “like a precious stone,” while alluding to the French-oak casks the cognac is aged in. Additionally, the sculptor takes a distinct approach with the XO Limited Edition, encasing the decanter in a golden structure like an immaculate jewel. The golden encasement also features an opening for sustainable bottle replacement or refilling.

“Through this collaboration, we’ve created two distinct limited-edition carafes, each a testament to the power of reimagining familiar objects with new meaning and beauty,” stated Othoniel. “Immersing myself in the artistry of barrel-making and cognac production was a profound experience, reinforcing my admiration for Hennessy’s legacy of craftsmanship and dedication.”

Hennessy XO Limited Edition retails for €257 or $286 and the Hennessy XO Masterpiece for €35,000 ($39,000 USD). They are currently available in Asia and will be available worldwide by the end of September. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
