Crafted for novice whiskey enthusiasts and at-home bartenders, Uncle Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey is a lower-proof offering that champions accessibility
Uncle Nearest has unveiled a new, lower-proof whiskey, Green Tennessee Whiskey. The entry-level offering encourages inclusivity and was created with bartenders and at-home mixologists in mind. Designed by master blender Victoria Eady Butler, Uncle Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey arrives at 42% ABV–unlike the brand’s base offering which sits at 50% ABV.
“Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey captures the spirit of my great-great-grandfather, Nearest Green, while still upholding our pillars of excellence and making the highest quality whiskeys,” says Butler. “This whiskey is not just about enjoying a great drink; it’s about celebrating his legacy in every pour and bringing people together in a way that honours our past and embraces the future of Tennessee Whiskey.”
The new whisky comes in a taller, slimmer bottle, but maintains the brand’s standard front label shape.
“With the launch of Nearest Green, we are not just expanding our offerings; we are expanding the Uncle Nearest family by reaching new consumers who before may not be looking to spend more than $50 on a bottle,” comments chief business officer Katharine Jerkens. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone can learn about and experience the legacy of Nearest Green, and we’re excited to offer a product that invites even more people to celebrate every moment.”
Priced at $30, Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey is available via Reserve Bar and at the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville. The whiskey will be available at select bars and retailers later this month. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
Back in 2022, Uncle Nearest bottled its first rye whiskey, and now offers nine bottles across its collection. Earlier this year, CEO Fawn Weaver released her New York Times best-selling book Love & Whiskey, which chronicles the true story of Nearest Green, who taught Jack Daniel’s how to make whiskey, and how Weaver created and grew the Uncle Nearest brand.
