San Francisco’s Marina District is getting a new, low-ABV cocktail bar that features a blend of Asian-influenced small plates, shaved ice drinks, and martinis
The team behind Causwells has opened a new craft cocktail bar in San Francisco’s Marina District, Lilah. Offering Southeast Asian-influenced small plates alongside low-ABV pours, the space focuses on partner Elmer Mejicanos’ drinks, while Causwells chef and partner Adam Rosenblum is in charge of the menu.
Located inside a former eyeglass store, the bar-restaurant is named after Mejicanos’ daughter, Delilah. Wallpaper featuring hand-drawn animals drinking at a bar stretches around the compact space, which is filled with tables and banquettes. The bar itself features just two seats.
Over 20 drinks are featured on the cocktail menu and spread over four sections: Spritzes & Sours, Martinis & Kakigori (Japanese shaved ice), Tiki & Savory, and Nonalcoholic. The kakigori category may be the space’s most intriguing, likely to bring in guests thanks to its inspiring combinations like the Lemongrass Negroni (lemongrass infused low-proof gin, mommenpop orange aperitif, guerin dry vermouth, cappelletti aperitif, salted orange bitters, and citrus oil), while its martini cohort includes a souffle-inspired Espresso Martini variation (low-proof rum, uganda single origin cacao, px sherry, walnut bitters, jaggery, espresso, nitro vanilla coffee foam, and black sesame salt).
In the Tiki & Savory section, visitors can find a low-proof Jungle Bird as well as a Pho Margarita (aji amarillo infused lp tequila, cilantro, thai basil, mint, star anise, cinnamon, agave, and lime). While the Spritzes & Sours contains drinks like the California Girl (low-proof vodka, jardesca california aperitif, manzanilla sherry, citrus, cold pressed cucumber, lemon curd, saline, and wild honey) and the eponymous Lilah (pink peppercorn infused m&r fiero aperitif, cold pressed mandarin, salt, orange flower water, and prosecco).
Rosenblum’s food menu features dishes like Cantonese duck “crispy tacos”, Taiwanese pork belly buns (pork belly, scallion, pickled mustard greens, jus), and Korean pork ribs with geotjeori slaw, and peanut crunch. Brunch, meanwhile, will feature similar plays like a Scallion pancake breakfast wrap with chinese pork sausage, egg, and chili crunch aioli.
Lilah is located at 2336 Chestnut St San Francisco, CA 94123, USA.
