The Jaguar Room has opened inside Tacolina in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake, offering Mexican spirits and light snacks
The Jaguar Room has opened in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood. Located next to/inside Tacolina (after entering the recently opened Mexican restaurant, walk halfway through the patio and turn left to get to the bar), the new space comes from Jenny Rush of Blue Plate Restaurant Group, bringing the Santa Monica restaurateur her first space east of the 405.
Formerly home to De Buena Planta (which closed this past June), the animal print-covered Jaguar Room focuses on spirit-forward cocktails made with Mexican-produced spirits. Led by former Otium bar manager Sam Eppel, the cocktail menu features plays on a variety of classics, including guava Daiquiri and a tobacco Old Fashioned (made with Abasolo whiskey, elote and Turkish tobacco bitters), as well as tropical house specials like the Jaguar Paw (Condesa Gin, celery, fragrant pandan, and lime) and Hibiscus Breeze (mezcal, rhum agricole, hibiscus, watermelon, lime, and sea salt).
Inside the bar, visitors will find a mix of midcentury modern lighting, the previously mentioned animal prints, red banquettes, gold accents, and small tables, all giving the space a classic Hollywood meets modern Sliver Lake vibe.
As for food, visitors looking for more filling meals will have to head across the partio to Tacolina, which the bar makes cocktails for. The Jaguar Room only offers smaller snacks like chips and guacamole, yucca fries, and taco duos.
