Plymouth Gin has partnered with chef Mark Hix for an “Online Gin Cocktail & Seafood Cook-Along.” The event will source fish from Call4Fish, an initiative set up in direct response to Covid-19 to support UK fishermen and local traders, allowing people to buy fresh produce from local fishermen and traders safely. It will take place live online on October 1, and Plymouth Gin bartender Luke Vardy will join Hix to lead the experience.
Those who join Plymouth Gin and Mark Hix in the fun will prepare two cocktails: a Plymouth Aromatic Gin & Tonic and a Plymouth Fresh Gimlet. The menu will feature mackerel ceviche with cucumber and sweet potato crisps and a trio of poached fish with baby spinach.
Participants will receive two miniature bottles (5 cl) of Plymouth Gin; a Plymouth Gin Glug Jug, Copa Glass and Gin Jigger; Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic; a 10 ml bottle of simple syrup; fresh lemon and limes; and a cocktail card. They will also get 200-250 grams mackerel fillets, skinned and boned, along with the fillets from three types of fish like gurnard, John Dory, whiting etc., which weigh about 600-700 grams in total.
It’s sure to be a heck of a night for all involved as the Pernod Ricard-owned brand and Dorset-born chef are sure to put on quite a show. The event takes place October 1 at 7pm BST (11am PST). Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on where you live, deliveries will only be available throughout the United Kingdom. You can purchase tickets here.
In August, Pernod Ricard-owned Malfy Gin teamed up with Pasta Evangelists to deliver a pasta and cocktail masterclass that immersed viewers in the “Italian art of slow dining.” Malfy’s ambassador Dani Umoette and Pasta Evangelists head chef Roberta D’elia guided diners through a 90-minute experience, where diners learned how to make a Con Arancia G&T, Amalfy Sunset Spritz, and simple lemon and ricotta ravioli.
