Douglas Laing Unwraps Scallywag Winter Edition Whisky

Douglas Laing Scallywag Winter Edition Whisky

Douglas Laing has unveiled a new seasonal offering, Scallywag Winter Edition Whisky. The limited edition cask strength Whisky from the independent blender and bottler features a festive red-aand-white striped scarf on the bottle, perfect for the season.

Matured exclusively in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximinéz Sherry butts, the Scallywag Winter Edition Speyside blended malt has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 52.6% ABV. According to the distillery, the deep amber colored whisky displays bold notes of dark fruits, rich cocoa, subtle tobacco, and warming winter spice.

“We’re delighted to unveil this latest innovation in the Scallywag portfolio, rounding off a year of positive growth for our Speyside Malt brand,” says Cara Laing, Director of Whisky at Douglas Laing & Co. “The Cask Strength Winter Edition combines a very fun pack with truly serious Whisky – matured exclusively in Spanish Sherry casks, this big, feisty, fruity and festive dram is the ultimate warmer for those dark, chilly Winter nights.”

Only 3000 bottles of the Scallywag Winter Edition will be released worldwide. So if you’re thinking about warming yourself up with a bottle of the cask strength sherried Speyside blended malt that comes with an adorable little scarf, it’s probably time to get shopping. The Whisky is currently on sale for £49.99 ($64.99 USD) and will be available from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt.

Late last month, Douglas Laing & Co added a 26-year-old Macallan 1993 Vintage to its XOP The Black Series. The independent bottler launched its XOP The Black Series last year as an extension to its Xtra Old Particular Single Cask Scotch Whisky range.

Earlier this year, the company continued an annual tradition with the release of a new Big Peat whisky for the Fèis Ìle festival, Big Peat 8 Years Old A846. This year’s bottling honors the A846, a “legendary” road that links whisky fans to distilleries across the Scottish island of Islay before steering up through Jura.
