Maestro Dobel Tequila has unveiled its newest creation, the Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino, an Extra Anejo Cristalino. Brand founder and 11th generation tequila maker Juan Dobel announced the U.S. release of the new Tequila expression.
Created in celebration of the founder’s story and birthday, Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino rests Extra Añejo Tequilas from family reserves in both Eastern European and American oak barrels, before marrying them together in a unique blend. The Tequila uses 100% Blue Weber Agaves grown in the lowlands of Jalisco, Mexico that are sourced from a single family-owned estate. The liquid is twice distilled in copper pot stills, adding to its smoothness. After aging, the Tequila is then filtered using a proprietary refinement process that maintains the aromas and flavor profiles from maturation, and delivers a smooth mouthfeel with a sparkling crystal appearance.
“When you grow up making tequila, you inherit respect for the agave plant, and dedication to a meticulous distilling and maturation process. This release is a very personal one for me as it was created to commemorate my 50th birthday, and is the ultimate expression of Dobel’s commitment to both tradition and innovation,” said Juan. “As we see tequila innovation within the U.S soar, Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino, represents the future of what the tequila category can offer to bartenders and discerning spirits connoisseurs alike, bringing the smoothest, and most complex tequila from Maestro Dobel to the U.S.”
On the nose, Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino featured a compelling marriage of caramel, honey, cooked agave and dried fruit aromas, along with hints of chocolate, tobacco and sweets. The palate is voluminous and rich with a silky mouth-feel and offers notes of fig, quince, date, pineapple and pumpkin, together with hints of cinnamon, vanilla and clove. The finish is smooth and silky-sweet.
“At Maestro Dobel, we are renowned for producing modern expressions of tequila, with artful skill and a refined craft that spans over 250 years. Using both Eastern European and American oak barrels in a single product is a first for us, and has brought out unexpected flavor profiles, providing subtle nods to each of the casks in which they have matured. Together with Juan Dobel, I am thrilled to share Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino with the U.S., the most innovative tequila we have released to date,” said Alex Coronado, Maestro Tequilero and Head of Production at Maestro Dobel.
Maestro Dobel 50 Cristalino is available for purchase nationwide for the price of $145.00, and call also be found on Drizly.
