The inaugural Whisk(e)y on The Rocks festival is coming to Sydney, Australia, and is set to deliver some of the world’s finest Whisky expressions to the Emerald City. The four day event will offer masterclasses, a Whisky trail of local bars and restaurants, and four unique “festival zones.”
Whisk(e)y on The Rocks will be held in differing areas across Campbell’s Cove, 47 George Street, Playfair Street, and The Argyle Courtyard, which will each host different concepts from some of the world’s finest Whisky makers, including Glenfiddich, Monkey Shoulder, Johnnie Walker, Starwood Whisky, and even Fever-Tree.
Over at Whisk(e)y Cove, aka Campbells Cove, the Fever-Tree High Ball Bar will pour whiskies from all festival partners, mixed and matched with the Fever Tree range. Also at Campbells Cove, The Glenfiddich “Whisky Wanderer,” a 1972 Double Decker Bus converted into a luxury whisky lounge on wheels, is completely kitted out with a high-class premium bar, hydraulic pop-up roof and classic Glenfiddich theming. Visitors can grab a sample (or full serve) of Glenfiddich Whisky or even get their own personalised bottle.
Over on Playfair Street, Monkey Shoulder’s Mixer Truck will be shaking up cocktails, while at Argyle Courtyard, Johnnie Walker will be celebrating its 200th anniversary. At 47 George St, the three-floor venue will be turned into a “home of whisky” with bars from Maker’s Mark, Dead Rabbit’s, and Wild Turkey.
The festival will keep the “festival zones” open for two hours across various allocated time slots, before sending visitors off on the curated Whisk(e)y Trail, where imbibers will find Starward Whisky and Cooper Dog Whisky at various venues such as The Argyle, The Doss House, Mrs Jones Bar, The Push, The Mercantile Hotel, Sergeant Lok, Tayim, Fortune of War and Maybe Sammy–which was just named the 11th best bar in the world and Australia’s best bar. Each location will have its own Whisky and food menu crafted especially for the festival.
Those interested in mixing some education with their Whisky can take part in a variety of 45-minute Master Classes set up in the Campbells Cove Stores, which each dig into the history, craftsmanship and story behind the festival’s partnering Whisky Houses
The Whisk(e)y on the Rocks festival goes from Thursday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22, bringing some of the top Whisky offerings to Sydney. Tickets to the festival are $25 each and come with seven sample tokens, which are redeemable for 15mL whisky nips and cocktails across the festival zones and along the Whisk(e) trail.
