Vusa is set to disrupt the spirits markets by distilling a premium Vodka made from the finest African ingredients. The forthcoming Vodka has already picked up a silver medal at the International Wines & Spirits Competition.
Made from locally grown sugarcane from the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and blended with water from the hills of the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, Vusa Vodka uses a unique filtration process that utilizes the shells of the fruit from the Baobab tree. The shells create the activated carbon filter which helps create the African spirit’s signature smooth finish.
“Vusa embodies the vibrancy, creativity and quality you find in all four corners of the African continent and we have made it our mission to take this spirit to the world,” says creative director, Thabo Molaba.
Vusa means “Awaken” and “ true to its name aims to demonstrate the power of African craft, culture and aesthetic, and challenge cultural bias on a global scale,” says the brand.
“With a fresh take and unfiltered point of view on African craft and style, we created Vusa to not only put new craft and new energy into the Vodka category but to also show the world what Africans have always known about its culturally and resource rich continent,” says head distiller, Angelo Page.
As well as its main distillery in KwaZulu-Natal, Vusa is investing in a mobile distillery which will travel through the continent to produce new authentic African flavors and limited editions and provide a platform to celebrate African voices and stories.
Vusa is committed to creating change in the spirit world and beyond, and is doing so through efforts with the Vusa Foundation. A portion of all profits are donated to the Khulisani Foundation which aims to support urban farming and drive positive transformation around South African communities.
Vusa Vodka looks to be arriving in the United Kingdom soon.
