Slane Irish Whiskey

Slane Irish Whiskey

Launched in 2017, Slane Irish Whiskey delivers a smooth yet complex offering that’s guaranteed to take you away from your daily concerns. Robust grain aromas along with lingering oak and spice flavors takes drinkers on a journey to Ireland’s River Boyne.

Slane combines single grain and single malt Whiskeys from different distilleries and then ages them in a triple casked process: first in Virgin and seasoned casks created by the Brown-Forman Cooperages and then in Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez in Spain. It is then blended to produce a smooth, yet complex and robust Irish Whiskey

On the nose, Slane offers aromas of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, brown spice and toasted oak. The palate is spicy and complex. It finishes with hints of dried fruit and caramelized wood sugar, malt, and oak with additional notes of caramel and butterscotch combining to produce a smooth finish.

The County Meath-located brand suggested drinking their Whiskey on the rocks or as an ingredient in a cocktail, such as the Slane Irish Coffee or The Burton Manhattan:

The Burton Manhattan

Half visionary and half rogue, William Burton Conyngham planned the Village of Slane, helped make O’Connell Street into the grand thoroughfare of Dublin, and may or may not have been caught smuggling merino wool into Ireland from Spain. He is the fitting inspiration for our Slane-style Manhattan.

  • 2 parts Slane Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 part Blanc Vermouth
  • 1/2 part Rouge Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Slane Irish Whiskey was born in an area known for monastic ruins and historic battlefields and the ancient River Boyne in County Meath. Newgrange, a prehistoric monument, predates the pyramids and Stonehenge while The Hill of Slane is associated with St. Patrick and the High King of Tara. The Boyne Valley has become home to artisanal distillers, cider makers, artists, musicians, while its natural beauty attracts campers, hikers and fishermen. Slane Whiskey calls the north bank of the River Boyne, and the village designed by the Conyngham Family in the early 18th century, home.

In 1796, Henry Conyngham expanded Slane Castle with the help of Capability Brown, an architect, while in 1820 Lady Elizabeth Conyngham became the last mistress of King George IV, who improved the road from Dublin to Slane for faster access. In 1870, George Garvin Brown created Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, later entering into partnership with George Forman, his accountant, to create the Brown-Forman bond. In 1956, Brown-Forman purchased the Jack Daniel Distillery in Tennessee and in 2015, Brown-Forman purchased Slane Castle Irish Whiskey. Slane Castle’s former stables became home to the Slane Castle Irish Whiskey.
