Offering a California-meets-Brooklyn atmosphere, Abricot delivers top-notch cocktails and delicious plant-based bites in Paris’ 10th arrondissement.
Opened in February 2023, the female-run Abricot offers top-notch cocktails and delicious plant-based bites in Paris’ 10th arrondissement. A California-meets-Brooklyn fills the space, which features plenty of pastels, flowers, and stone pillars to go along with its single-cut oak bar. Sundays bring live jazz, while monthly meetups make sure the bar plays home to Parisian anglophone women expats.
The drinks menu features everything from cocktails to non-alcoholic pours to beers and wines by the glass. The cocktails features a blend of American, Mexican, and Ashkenazi flavors, and much of the work is done behind the scenes as most of the ingredients are made in-house.
Owner Jennifer Crain tells us…
Please describe Abricot as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.
When you walk into our warmly-lit space, with modern pastels, flowers, stone pillars and a single-cut oak bar, you’re greeted with a friendly bonsoir and presented with a small welcome cocktail in a vintage cordial glass (which changes with the seasons, but always has a touch of apricot!). The menu is playful and creative, with evocative descriptions and illustrations, and our team is at the ready to answer any questions, from the most basic to the most cocktail-nerdy.
How would you describe Abricot in a three-word text to a friend that you’re trying to convince to join you?
Fun, femme, & friendly!
Other than Abricot, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?
We’re at the intersection of a few vibrant quartiers, from Canal St. Martin, where Parisians flock to hang by the water, to Belleville with its Asian markets and restaurants. There are tons of amazing bars and restaurants in the area, including natural wines at La Cave à Michel and La Liquiderie, and cocktails at Combat and Kissproof.
Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?
We host lots of different events to engage with our local community. Each Sunday features live jazz music, the first Wednesday of each month a friend hosts a meetup for anglophone women expats, and periodically we host parties such as tarot night with cards & cocktails, holiday parties such as Cinco de Mayo (with a full margarita menu), and we have a calendar of fun events for Women’s History Month… but truly, every night we’re open is a great night to visit!
Describe the average drinkers that you serve?
We tend to have a diverse mix of locals from the quartier as well as tourists, and we seem to be a beacon for a lot of anglophones living in Paris as well. Not all of our guests are cocktail-savvy, and we enjoy helping people pick the perfect cocktail for their palate – but most of our guests are adventurous when it comes to food and drink! One of the most notable aspects of Abricot is how many women guests we serve, whether in groups or solo. For us, we know we’re doing something right when women feel comfortable drinking alone at our bar.
Please tell us more about your drinks menu.
The menu is largely influenced and inspired by our personal backgrounds and roots, with American, Mexican, and Ashkenazi flavors. There’s a strong culinary approach to the development of the recipes, with much of the work being done behind the scenes in the prep kitchen, and nearly all the ingredients other than the spirits being made in-house. The cocktails are playful and inventive, but accessible, and we take care to describe things in language that gives our guests a real idea of what they’re going to taste.
What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?
Tequila and mezcal-based drinks are by far the most popular at Abricot. On the current menu, the Carmen Miranda is killer: house-made tepache (pineapple fermented with panela sugar, jalapeño, sage, and spices) with Banhez mezcal ensamble and lime. We put it on tap and serve it in terracotta cantaritos.
How much do drinks cost?
Cocktails range from 13-15€, NA cocktails from 9-10€, beers from 4-10€, and wine from 8-12€ per glass.
Is there anything to eat? If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?
We have a great selection of snacks perfect for sharing, most of which are made in-house. By far the most popular are our nachos (and people have no idea they’re vegan, like everything else on our menu!)
What are the distinguishing features of Abricot?
A California-meets-Brooklyn vibe in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Paris, serving creative culinary cocktails in a casually chic, welcoming, and playful atmosphere where you can relax and indulge.
What’s that music we hear playing on the Abricot stereo?
It depends on the vibe of the evening, but you can usually count on hearing some 90s divas!
