As Colombian aguardiente continues its rise in markets across the world, making its way into a variety of the world’s top cocktail bars, Michelin Star restaurants, and even local haunts, Bacan Guaro has quickly established itself as one of the go-to choices for creating cocktails with the spirit. Made from high quality ingredients, including aniseed from Spain, sugarcane juice from Brazil, and water from Colombia, Bacan is a favorite of bartenders, drink educators, and chefs from Miami to Washington D.C. to New York.
We spoke with some of Miami’s top drink makers to get some inspiration for the best cocktails to make with both Bacan Guaro 29 and Bacan Guaro 24. Check them out below:
Guarorita Pa’ Ahorita (Created by Gabe Urrutia)
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 24
- 1 oz lime juice
- .5 oz Ancho Reyes Verde
- .5 oz real mango purée
- .5 oz agave nectar
- Garnish: dehydrated lime wheel (optional), Tajín, mango slice
Method:
- Prepare a double rocks glass with a Tajín rim.
- Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled.
- Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with dehydrated lime wheel lime, if using, and mango slice sprinkled with Tajín
Guaro Lychee (Created by: Miguel Angel Martinez)
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 29
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1 1/2 oz lychee water
- 3 mint leaves
- Tonic water
- Garnish: 2 lychee nuts and mint sprig
Method:
- Prepare a wine glass with ice.
- Shake all ingredients except the tonic water with ice.
- Double strain over into the prepared glass and top with tonic water.
- Garnish with lychee nuts and mint threaded onto a cocktail pick.

Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Bacan Guaro 24
- 1 oz cold brew concentrate
- .5 oz coffee liqueur
- .5 oz simple syrup
Method:
- Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled and frothy.
- Strain into a coupe glass.
- Top with coconut foam.*
- Garnish with 3 coffee beans
*To make coconut foam:
- ¼ cup coconut milk
- ½ oz. agave nectar
Method: Froth with handheld frother for 2-3 minutes or until it’s foamy.

Ingredients:1.5 oz Bacan Guaro 29
- 1 oz passion fruit purée
- .5 oz simple syrup
- .25 oz lime juice
- 2 oz soda water
- 2 oz sparkling wine
- Garnish: mint sprig and orange slice
Method:
- Fill a large wine glass with ice.
- Pour all ingredients into the glass and stir to combine.
- Garnish with a mint sprig and orange slice.

Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 29
- 1 oz low sugar simple syrup
- 1 oz lime juice
- 4 cucumber slices
- 4 basil leaves
- Garnish: Lime twist and fresh basil sprig
Method:
- Prepare a rocks glass with a single sphere of ice.
- Shake ingredients very well with ice.
- Double strain into the prepared glass.
- Garnish with a twist of lime and sprig of basil threaded onto a cocktail pick.
Viva La Vida (Created by Gabe Urrutia)
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 29
- .75 oz lemon juice
- .75 oz hibiscus syrup
- 2 dashes of rose water
- Garnish: lime twist and/or edible flower
Method:
- Fill a stemless flute or Collins glass with ice.
- Pour ingredients into the glass and stir well.
- Garnish with a twist of lime and edible flowers.
Bacan Old Fashioned (Created by Gabe Urrutia)
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 29
- .5 oz banana syrup
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
- 2 dashes of orange bitters
- Garnish: orange twist and cocktail cherry
Method:
- Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and stir with ice to dilute.
- Strain over a 2×2 ice cube into lowball glass.
- Garnish by threading a twist of orange and a cocktail cherry on a pick.
Jaguar Mule (Created by Gabe Urrutia)
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Bacan Guaro 24
- .5 oz lime juice
- .5 oz kiwi syrup
- Ginger beer
- Garnish: lime wheel and fresh grated ginger
Method:
- Add ingredients, except the ginger beer, into a copper mule cup filled with crushed ice and stir.
- Top with ginger beer.
- Garnish with a lime wheel and freshly grated ginger.
