Booker’s Bourbon has unveiled its first batch of 2023, Charlie’s Batch. Officially dubbed Booker’s Batch 2023-01, this batch is named in honor of Charlie Hutchens, the craftsman behind the signature wooden boxes that each Booker’s bottle comes in.
Charlie worked at the distillery when Booker Noe was Master Distiller and is also a long-time friend of the Noe family. He handcrafted the very first Booker’s Bourbon wooden box and was one of the first people to help make Booker’s namesake bourbon a recognizable brand. After several years, Charlie left the business to open his own cabinet shop with his brother. He and his brother have expanded their business to create other fine wood products for different brands and projects in the Beam family, such as supplying custom furniture to the new Fred B. Noe Distillery – where Booker’s Bourbon is now distilled.
Like all batches of Booker’s Bourbon, Booker’s Charlie’s Batch was selected by Seventh Generation Master Distiller Fred Noe to ensure it upholds the qualities and standards that his dad set for Booker’s Bourbon more than 30 years ago. Uncut and unfiltered, this batch has the following characteristics:
Bottled at 126.6 proof, the whiskey was aged for 7 years, 1 month, and 8 days. It has a well-aged amber color and a balanced aroma of oak, toasted nuts, and vanilla notes without too much wood. It has a slightly warm taste with a pleasant finish. It is best enjoyed neat.
Booker’s Charlie’s Batch is now available nationwide in limited quantities for $89.99 per 750 mL bottle. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
The final 2022 release, Pinkie’s Batch, honored Booker Noe’s dad, the original Frederick Booker Noe, who was known as “Pinkie” to his family and friends.
