Bowen House

Bowen House Uptown Dallas bar

Offering an unbeatable combination of cocktails and red meat, Bowen House brings Dallas’ Uptown the perfect first or last stop on a night out.

Situated in Dallas’ buzzing Uptown neighborhood, Bowen House serves up inventive cocktails and red meat inside a historic, Victorian-style home that was built back in 1874. It’s located just a stone’s throw from sister restaurant Las Palmas and serves food till 1:30am, making it an excellent option for someone wanting more than the usual late night fare. The cocktail menu features staff submissions, so drinks fit a variety of palates.

General Manager Joseph Shirghio tells us…

Please describe Bowen House as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

Bowen House is a contemporary cocktail lounge in an historic home in Dallas, so the Victorian-style home welcome our guests warmly, and our hospitality reflects that same feeling. We’re a small bar with rich character.

Other than Bowen House, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

Our sister restaurant, Las Palmas, is just a stone’s throw from us, and the neighborhood is seeing a bit of reinvention.

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

Anytime … Bowen House is always bustling from open to close. Our kitchen also offers food until 30 minutes before close, so it’s a secret spot for a steak tartare or cheeseburger at 1:30am.

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

Bowen House brings everyone together—you may see local students beside parents on a special night out rubbing elbows with local bartenders.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

We allow our bar staff to submit cocktails for each menu. We all work together to make it a varied, unique menu with every palate represented.

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

Pushing the Envelope — … if you like day dreaming and mailing letters, you should try this drink.

How much do drinks cost?

$14-$20

Is there anything to eat?  If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

Our kitchen offers extraordinary dishes like Foie Gras, Steak Tartare, an absolutely decadent Filet Mignon, some secret menu items for those in the know, and, of course, our famous Bowen Cheeseburger.

What are the distinguishing features of Bowen House?

Aside from our extraordinary cocktail program and hospitality, we’re proud to be in the historic Ahab Bowen home in Dallas that was built in 1874. A landmark welcomes guests in front of the home.

What’s that music we hear playing on the Bowen House stereo?

It depends who is working, but you can hear anything from classic 80s to current rap, lo-fi, or indie selections. Whatever is playing, we can guarantee you’ll open Shazam at least once during your experience.
