Camus And Shede Spirits Create Founder’s Reserve Baijiu

Camus Shede Founder’s Reserve Baijiu

Camus International has partnered with leading baijiu company Shede Spirits to create a baijiu, called Shede Founder’s Reserve. Camus International is a subsidiary of Cognac producer Camus Wines and Spirits, focused exclusively on the distribution of Chinese baijiu products worldwide.

Shede Founder’s Tribute is made using Shede’s oldest fermentation pits, which date back to the Ming dynasty. The base spirit is matured for at least six years and blended with 15-year-old vintage baijiu from the Tai’An workshop.

The event was hosted by Cyril Camus, president of Camus Wines and Spirits, and Pu Jizhou, CEO and vice president of Shede Spirits.

“The collaboration between China’s leading strong aroma [baijiu] brand Shede and a world-class Cognac brand, Camus, is the duet of two craftsmen, a recognition for the quality of Shede, and a brand-new start for the internationalisation of Shede Spirits,” said Jizhou.

Camus will support Shede Spirits by increasing awareness of strong aroma baijiu around the world through the promotion and integration of Chinese and western cultures.

Shede Founder’s Reserve Baijiu was unveiled at a launch event on April 22 in Shanghai, China, and is expected to become available in duty free stores in the second half of 2021. It will be available exclusively in duty free in limited quantities, priced at $65 per 500ml bottle.

Last month, Camus unveiled Return to Saint-Aulaye, a 2016 vintage Cognac made from Colombard grapes. The new offering follows last year’s Camus Caribbean Expedition, which explored the impact of aging the French brandy at sea. It is the first Cognac to come out of the very last vineyards of Dordogne – a single-cru, single-varietal expression from an area known to many as Perigord, recognized for its gastronomic heritage, but lesser known as being part of the Cognac Appellation. It is set to hit shelves on Monday, April 26.
