A hidden agave-focused bar with great cocktails, a large spirits list, and guacamole that’s actually worth talking about, Candelaria is one of Paris’ can’t-miss destinations.
One of Paris’ great speakeasies, Candelaria helped bring agave spirits to the French capital, all while hiding behind an unassuming taco shop–which has great guacamole and frozen margaritas of its own. The cocktail bar comes from the same people as Le Mary Celeste (another favorite), and similarly offers some of the Marais best food and drink options.
The cocktail menu is ever-rotating and the agave list ever-growing, so whether you’re into tequila, mezcal, sotol or bacanora, either mixed or neat, you won’t be disappointed. Everyone from locals to expats to drink-keen tourists tend to make their way into the dark depths of Candelaria, so it’s probably best to show up early, and maybe get some tacos or a quesadilla while you’re at it.
Please describe Candelaria as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.
Moving through a bustling Taqueria and through an unassuming, unmarked door, you’ll find yourself in a hidden paradise of fun vibes. Expect the team to be super welcoming and helpful as they let you explore a menu of unknown flavours.
