Casa Don Ramon Launches Joven Mezcal

Mezcal Don Ramon Joven

Casa Don Ramon has launched a Joven Mezcal. The new offering from the iconic Tequila brand is a “transcendent expression of this category,” according to a release.

Made from 100% Salmiana Agave from Zacatecas, Mexico that has been aged for eight to 10 years, Mezcal Don Ramon Joven embodies the earthen smokiness of Mezcal. It’s double-distilled in pot stills and offers herbal aromas with subtle fruit and smoke notes. For each Salmiana Agave harvested, Casa Don Ramon plants two more of the species in its place.

The bottle features an elegant silver  Jaguar stopper, an animal significant in Mayan mythology as the ruler of the Underworld. The jaguar is representative of ferocity, power and valor.

Mezcal Don Ramon Joven can be enjoyed straight, on the rocks, or as part of cocktails. If you’re looking to mix up something holiday inspired, the brand recommends he Up, Up and Away:

  • 1 ½ oz Mezcal Don Ramón Joven
  • 1 oz. Lillet Blanc
  • ½ oz. Benedictine
  • 8 dashes Grapefruit Bitters
  • Flamed Grapefruit Twist (garnish)

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir, strain and pour the cocktail over a large ice cube and garnish with a grapefruit twist. Drink responsibly.

Bottled at 40% ABV, the Mezcal is on sale for $45 per 750ml bottle.

Last month, Pierce Brosnan joined Casa Don Ramon as its global spokesperson. The James Bond star is now the official face of the Mexican spirits brand and represents its Limited Edition Collection. “I love the finer things, and Tequila Don Ramon Limited Edition is just that,” said Brosnan about the brand. “It takes you on a journey from the luxe packaging, to the first pour, to the initial sip.”

In his new role as global spokesperson, Brosnan will represent the Tequila Don Ramón Limited Edition Collection, small batch offerings with limited quantities available for purchase. There are three Tequilas within the range, Plata, Añejo and Extra Añejo, and each is presented in a Swarovski crystal-embellished bottle. Whether or not Brosnan represents the Mezcal as well remains to be seen.
