CopperBay

CopperBay - Paris

CopperBay brings Paris a bright space to enjoy inventive cocktails and fresh small plates only minutes from Canal Saint Martin.

While CopperBay might sit in the heart of the 10th, its big windows and high ceilings create a bright, Mediterranean atmosphere that pairs perfectly with a menu of classic and original cocktails. The menu is perfect for a picnic by the Canal Saint Martin (just five minutes away), and filled with small plates, cheeses, and meat from small French producers.

Co-owner Aurélie Panhelleux tells us…

Please describe CopperBay as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

You will find us in the heart of the 10th arrondissement in a small little street dotted by lovely trees just behind the big boulevard.

I guess the first thing about our place you gonna see are our big windows that make the space very bright and the high ceiling. It reminds us of the sunny bay on the Mediterranean coast and we also have a quiet little terrasse  Come on in you and you will hear a big “Bonsoir” from the team, and your eyes will be attracted to the bar station’s design as an “ilôt”, and the color code made of deep blue, copper and light wood. I will always recommend sitting at the bar, it’s like being with friends in the kitchen when they are cooking, just perfect to share a convivial moment. We bring you a little water and explain the menu, then just relax ….

How would you describe CopperBay in a three-word text to a friend that you’re trying to convince to join you?

Come to CopperBay it’s a very relaxed cocktail bar, with a lovely team and in a super cool neighborhood.

Other than CopperBay, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

The 10th arrondissement is renowned for its cultural mix and vibrant food scene. From great döner like Ozlem, to Indian restaurants and chill chef pop up like at Chop Chop. It’s also one of the neighborhoods in Paris that has the biggest concentration of theaters that makes it very busy at night and on the week-end.  The Canal Saint Martin is 5 minutes walking distance and a big destination for aperitif when sunny or to go play pétanque!

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

I think it depends who you’re with, but in the summer you can get an aperitif on our lovely terrasse until 10pm, then get inside for a late night cocktails in a chill vibe.

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

We do have a lot of regulars for our quarter mix with some people from all over the world. We love for people to enjoy our local vibe and we want to make sure that everyone feels home.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

Our actual menu is named “Texture” and makes the link between all the different mouth feels you can have in a drink and a related texture to touch to understand what to expect. The cocktails have names like Fizzy, Pulpy, Creamy, Oily…

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

Hard to pickout one as it depends on your taste, but for example we have the “Pulpy”. Pulpy is based on barley shochu, bourbon, pineapple, lime & mustard. The shochu brings that roasted note that match perfectly the pulpy texture of the pineapple and the mustard brings you this little kick of spiciness at the end.

How much do drinks cost?

Cocktails from our “Texture” menu cost 14 euros and our non-alcoholic menu “Texture 0.0” is 9 euros.

Is there anything to eat?  If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

In Paris, the food menu is organized as a picnic, cool bites to share with friends or fam when drinking. That includes Burrata, rillettes, mezzes and a selection of cold meat from little brands like Superproducteur & Kalios.

What are the distinguishing features of CopperBay?

The bright space with high ceilings, our drinks inspired by food techniques and the hospitality which is the most important to us.

What’s that music we hear playing on the CopperBay stereo?

We go with the flow of our guests. From Italo disco to RnB or electro, the idea is to play following the atmosphere.
