Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door Launches The Exploration Series with Tennessee Whiskey Aged in Calvados Barrels

Heaven’s Door has unveiled The Exploration Series, which will release two new limited-edition whiskey expressions each year.

Bob Dylan co-founded Heaven’s Door Spirits has unveiled The Exploration Series. The new collection will unveil two limited-edition whiskey expressions each year.

The Exploration Series’ debut is heavily influenced by French spirits, taking the brand’s Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey and finishing it inside freshly dumped Calvados casks before introducing an additional layer of complexity through medium-heavy toasted French oak staves.

Calvados, an apple brandy from Normandy, France, matures for at least two years in French Oak Casks. This imparts fresh apple cider and baked apple brandy notes into the bourbon.

“Our new medium-heavy toasted French oak staves bring forth balanced complexity and enhanced aroma, culminating in a dark color and a smoother, creamier mouthfeel, providing a truly enriched flavor experience,” said Master Blender Alex Moore. The heavy toast enhances baking notes associated with apples, including brown sugar, pastry, caramel, and biscuits.

The inaugural expression of the Heaven’s Door Exploration Series is aged for at least 5 years, bottled at 108 proof, and available for $79.99 at heavensdoor.com and retailers across the US.

In October, Heaven’s Door Spirits announced the launch of Homesick Blues Minnesota Wheated Bourbon. The limited-edition release pays homage to Dylan’s birthplace of Duluth, Minnesota and commemorates the debut of the Dylan biography, Bob Dylan: Mixing Up The Medicine.
