High West Distillery has unveiled High Country Single Malt to its collection of whiskeys. The new offering is set to hit shelves across the US on December 3rd.
High West High Country Single Malt is made from a blend of single malt whiskeys aged two to nine years in white American oak barrels. Then the whiskey is finished in Oloroso sherry barrels. It is distilled “on-the-grain,” which means that the distillery leaves the grain in during fermentation and distillation, instead of filtering it out.
On the nose, the whiskey offers aromas of baked apple, cinnamon stick and tobacco. The palate delivers vanilla-glazed banana bread, warm granola with dried fruit, and charred lemon peel. The brand recommends enjoying the whiskey neat or with a few drops of water to let its flavors breathe and develop slowly.
The latest High West release features a new label adorned with a vivid portrait of snow-capped mountains.
Bottled at 44% ABV, High West High Country Single Malt is priced at $79.99.
