Horses

Horses deserves the praise that continues to pour through its somehow classic and fashionable doors. We won’t lament about all the reasons we weren’t chomping at the bit to get here, it will forever be time missed. Simply, if you’re looking for one of the best places in LA to enjoy a martini and French bistro fare, while also digging into some Hollywood lore, it’s here. And it shouldn’t be a surprise, the bar and restaurant comes from Liz Johnson (the original chef from Silver Lake favorite Freedman’s and the stunning Mimi’s in New York City) and Will Aghajanian, who were both faces of Catbird Seat, one of Nashville’s most-iconic restaurants. Plus, the Tarantino and Evel Knievel stories from this space make it worth the visit.

What’s the crowd like?
Actually really, really nice. Pretty much everyone at Horses is happy to be there. Yes, it’s West Hollywood, but the crowd tends to be more thoughtful and low key than the loads of influencers you find selfing their way through LA’s other go-to dining destinations.

What am I drinking?
Sure, there are plenty of good cocktails on the menu and the selection of natural wines by the glass is top notch. But we’re here to drink martinis, that’s plural.

Is there anything to eat?
Yes. Whether you want the tartare, the burger, or pretty much anything else, Horses delivers.

When should I get here?
Whenever you can get a reservation, which to be fair continues to be a challenge. Seriously though, get one when you can and go.

Why am I here?
You’re probably here because it’s heralded as one of the hardest reservations to get in the city. You kept coming back because it deserves to be one of the hardest reservations to get in LA.
