San Francisco’s Junipero Gin has rolled a new Smoked Rosemary release made with lapsang tea and dried rosemary
Junipero has rolled out a new Smoked Rosemary Gin. The new release is inspired by the culinary scene with its smoky-herbal notes. The San Francisco-based brand is known for its use of copper pot stills.
Junipero Smoked Rosemary Gin is made with lapsang tea and dried rosemary, and crafted by San Francisco’s Hotaling & Co. In April, it picked up a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
“A juniper-forward craft gin may not seem pioneering today, but in 1996 when Junipero Gin was launched, there was nothing like it in the market,” says Bruce Joseph, Master Distiller at Hotaling & Co. “Like the original, Smoked Rosemary is bold, unfiltered, 98.6 proof, and the combination of lapsang tea and rosemary make this a unique new gin. This cocktail-forward expression is a wonderful first step in innovation for Junipero after nearly 30 years.”
Tasting notes
On the nose, the gin offers strong aromas of juniper supported by soft campfire smoke. The palate delivers more juniper along with bright citrus leading to a balanced herbal finish with a soft, smoky complexity. The brand recommends using the gin in twists on classic cocktails such as a Smoked Martini, Smoked White Negroni, the Foggy Dog and the Smoked Snapper
Bottled at 49.3% ABV, Junipero Smoked Rosemary Gin is priced at $34.99 per 750ml bottle. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
