Lagavulin has unveiled two limited-edition single malts for Fèis Ìle 2024, the Skies of Fèis Ìle, 29-Year-Old and an additional 10-year-old whisky
Each year, Islay’s various distilleries get together to throw one big 10-day party known as Fèis Ìle. While the event itself is a must-stop for any Scotch lover, the various special releases launched for it might be even more exciting. Lagavulin just unveiled its limited-edition festival offerings and they include the Skies of Fèis Ìle, 29-Year-Old as well as the Fèis Ìle 2024 10-Year-Old.
Lagavulin Skies of Fèis Ìle, 29-Year-Old:
Inspired by the aurora borealis, the Lagavulin Skies of Fèis Ìle 29-Year-Old celebrates the magnetic power of this iconic Islay distillery. Finished in a heavily charred Amoroso-seasoned American Oak hogshead cask, the whisky offers intense fruity notes. Only 250 bottles of the whisky will be made available and each will be personally hand filled and signed by Distillery Manager, Jordan Paisley.
Whisky expert and author, Charles MacLean calls Lagavulin Skies of Fèis Ìle: “As good as it gets! This is a hugely satisfying and complex whisky and a superb example of Lagavulin, whose distillery character still shines through its considerable age and unique finishing.”
Lagavulin Skies of Fèis Ìle, 29-Year-Old is priced at £2,500 per bottle. A limited number of customers will have the opportunity to pre order their bottle to pick up on the Lagavulin Fèis Ìle day and enjoy a tasting of the whisky with Jordan Paisley. To do so, book here.
Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2024 10-Year-Old
The distillery is also releasing the Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2024 10-Year-Old. Some might remember that a ‘prototype’ of this extra-heavily-peated stock was exclusively previewed for a few fans during the Lagavulin Malt Mill experience at last year’s festival.
The team at the distillery utilized malt with higher peating levels than usual and matured its resulting liquid in refill, heavily charred and first fill ex-bourbon American oak hogshead casks to create this expression. The whisky offers savory maritime nuances of iodine and dry seaweed with an underlying smoke.
“This year we’re releasing two very different expressions, but with a very similar inspiration: the way special moments, like Fèis Ìle or the Northern Lights on Islay, are capable of bringing people together,” says Paisley. “Just like Lagavulin has been uniting fans all over the world through its unique whisky, it is a very special moment for us.”
Bottled at 56.7% ABV, just 1,800 bottles of Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2024 10-Year-Old will be made available and are priced at £175. They can be purchased from the distillery.
