Downtown Los Angeles is getting a new rooftop cocktail bar, Lost, which also serves tacos and quesadillas from its location atop Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen
The people behind Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen are opening a cocktail lounge on top of their Downtown Los Angeles location, dubbed Lost Rooftop Cocktail + Taco Bar. Located on Hill between Seventh and Eighth, the 6,000 square foot space fits 300 people.
GVO Hospitality founders Ajay Relan and Yonnie Hagos found inspiration from trips to Mexico City for the new space. Unlike most rooftop cocktail bars, Lost is not located on top of a restaurant or hotel–like Bar Clara at Hotel Per La or Broken Shaker at the Freehand. This isn’t the duo’s first nightlife location, as they previously ran Parlor on Melrose from 2010 until it shuttered in 2022.
Spring Street Bar veteran Steen Bojsen Moller created the drinks menu that relies heavily on mezcal, rum, and tequila. Cocktails include the Up In The Sky (Mala Mia Mezcal, Pineapple Juice, Chareau, Lemon, Pineapple Gum Syrup, Saline), the Novacane (Tres Generación Tequila, Yellow Pepper Syrup, Cucumber, Lime, Scrappy’s Firewater Bitters), and Sweet Life Daiquiri (Diplomatico White Rum, Lime, Sugar, Peach Bitters, Salt). There’s also a non-alcoholic cocktail section, which includes beverages like the Broken Hearts (Ritual Tequila, Lime Juice, Agave Syrup, Jalapeno), as well as beer and wine options.
The food menu comes from chef Geter Atienza, formerly of Ray Garcia’s Broken Spanish, and features tacos, quesadillas, and ceviche. Ingredients are sustainable where possible and are prepared in an Airstream.
The space will also host live music gatherings that include everything from all-day DJ sets to singular one-off performances.
Currently, GVO has seven total locations (View Park, Inglewood, Eagle Rock, DTLA, and LAX in Terminal 7). The pair opened its first cafe in View Hills in 2018, followed by a second location in Inglewood in 2019, on which it partnered with multi-hyphenate Issa Rae. The partners are also set to open a space called ‘Somerville’ soon, but details remain scarce.
Lost is located at 718 S. Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90014, and is open Thursday through Sunday from 5pm to Late. For more information, head over to the official website.
