Spanish Sherry And Vermouth Combine To Make A Low-ABV Martini You Can Enjoy All Night In Music City

Named after a Spanish sherry glass, the Catavino combines sherry and vermouth to make a new low-ABV riff on a classic martini variation

The bamboo is essentially a low-ABV riff on a martini, and the Catavino from Attaboy in Nashville riffs on that classic variation. It swaps in blanc vermouth for dry and Amontillado sherry for Fino.

Name the cocktail

Catavino

What inspired the name? What’s this drink’s origin story?

Catavino is the name of a tulip shaped glass used to taste/serve Spanish Sherries.

The drink came about after a stretch of a few months when I was getting a lot of requests to make Bamboo’s and riffs on that style of drink. I kind of just approached swapping the ingredients of a bamboo (Dry Vermouth and Fino Sherry) for different styles of each of those products knowing it would likely stay balanced but the flavors would change.

What other drinks belong in its family?

Bamboo and Adonis. Both are lower abv sherry focused stirred classic cocktails. Catavino is a simple Mr. Potato Head style riff on those templates/formats.

if you like Dry Sherry and Savory Flavors you should try this drink.

What food is this cocktail best served with?

Seafood
