Macallan has unveiled the first edition of its Fine & Rare collection to be distilled in the new millennium, Fine & Rare 2000
The Macallan has unveiled Fine & Rare 2000. The almost quarter century old whisky joins the Speyside brand’s vintages series, which includes many of its most expensive and unique releases.
The Macallan Fine & Rare 2000 is the first release in the collection distilled in the new millennia. Bottled 24 years later on February 24, 2000 from cask no.27, in celebration of the 200th anniversary, the Scotch comes presented at its natural cask strength of 55% ABV.
Arriving in a beautiful autumnal russet, the whisky offers rich aromas of vanilla, ground coffee, white chocolate, brazil nuts, and a dusting of cinnamon. The palate features toffee brittle, chocolate coated raisins, rich oak, gentle hints of blackberry and cranberries with subtle cinnamon throughout. The finish lingers with rich oak and citrus peel.
With this release, Macallan looks to bring the theme of “celebration” to life. “The Year 2000 held great global anticipation, reflection on what had been and what would come, what the future would hold,” says a press release. “We were at once looking back to all that had been, whilst forward facing – imagining, anticipation far beyond our moment in time to what might be.
“In our anniversary year, 2024, we celebrate legacy in a special way as we remember our founder and the pioneers who have followed.”
The Macallan Fine & Rare 2000 has yet to unveil its price, but we’d guess somewhere in the five figure range. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
Last month, The Macallan unveiled the Time : Space Collection, featuring two unique bottlings: one featuring the 1940 Vintage and the 2018 Vintage whiskies and another, Time : Space Mastery, which pays tribute to past whisky masters through a diverse inventory of exceptional oak casks.
