Mezcalito Brompton brings Central London the stylish tequila cocktail bar and club it’s been waiting for.
Central London is getting the stylish, new tequila cocktail bar and club it’s been waiting for, Mezcalito Brompton. Located on South Kensington’s Old Brompton Road in the space previously occupied by Eclipse, the bar meets club comes from partners Oliver Castilla-Tristan and Laura Geas–owners of Mexican tapas-style restaurant bar Mezcalito Chelsea, which is reported to hold the largest selection of agave spirits in Europe.
Mezcalito Brompton aims to bring a taste of modern Mexican nightlife to the neighbourhood. The venue offers a 40-cover cosmopolitan cocktail bar on the ground floor and a boutique nightclub in the basement, providing an agave spirits led bottle-to-table service, a VIP area and a roster of DJs playing soundtracks from Latin house to Reggaeton.
Opened Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm to 2am, the Cocktail bar at Mezcalito Brompton will feature a variety of signature drinks, including their popular Picante, Paloma and Margarita as well as a Watermelon Martini; a nod to the former Eclipse’s signature cocktail.
The food menu celebrates authentic Mexican flavors, with a ‘Para Picar’ section inviting guests to share the joy of traditional starters, including Chicharrones, deep-fried pork belly chunks served with salsa verde; Elote, Mexican corn on the cob dressed in tajin butter and queso fresco; and Tiras de Pollo, chicken goujons with habanero mayo.
A choice of tacos and quesadillas are available in an array of flavours, including the classic Mexico City Al Pastor Tacos and Baja California Fish Tacos. Guests can also try Colima Sopitos, crispy corn masa cakes with creamy refried beans, avocado salad, salsa, and queso fresco. Dessert options include Churros or Blood Orange Sorbet infused with tequila.
Born and raised in Mexico, co-owner Oliver has worked in London’s hospitality industry for over 15 years, carving a reputation as one of the UK’s foremost experts in Tequila and Mezcal. He is doing much to raise awareness of agave spirits and Mexican culture in the capital and beyond and currently leads and curates Mezcalito’s agave spirits programme.
Speaking about the opening of Mezcalito Brompton Oliver comments, “It was always a dream to open a nightlife venue in our neighbourhood which not only celebrates Mexican heritage but also offers a premium and vibrant experience for locals. Guests of Mezcalito Chelsea have been asking for a late night haunt with our vibes and service and we have answered. We are incredibly excited to welcome everyone.”
Mezcalito Brompton is currently open and located at 158 Old Brompton Road, London SW5 0BA. The Cocktail Bar is open Tuesday – Saturday from 6pm – 2am. The Club is open Thursday from 10pm – 2.30am, and Friday and Saturday from 10pm – 3am.
