Serving up modern Indian fare alongside some of Valletta’s most intriguing cocktails, Naan Bar exceed expectations when delivering contemporary plays on old favorites. The bar and eatery opened in Spring 2019 and sits on Melita Street, just steps from the main drag. A small bar and cafe area designed for drinks and small bites sits on the top floor, while a larger dining room is located downstairs.
Innovation mixes with tradition when it comes to the cocktail menu. Visitors will find old favorites with South Asian twists such as the Bollywood Old Fashioned, which adds chai spices to the traditional combination of Bourbon, orange bitters, and Carpano Antica Vermouth. Even a G&T receives an India-inspired upgrade as the Gin is infused with tulsi and curry leaf. There is also a stunning tequila and egg white concoction called the Ginger Yaar, which features ginger syrup, lime juice, fresh orange juice, curry syrup, Disaronno, and Spice mix to create something truly engaging. Those looking for something other than a cocktail will be happy to find an ample wine menu as well as a variety of beers.
Visitors looking for something to nibble on while downing the delightful drinks will be thrilled to find a large menu with both modern and traditional options. Naan Bar serves some of Valletta’s most inspired Indian cuisine, including a Street Fare section that features favorites like Aloo Tikki and Lamb Seekh. Those looking for a full sit-down meal can enjoy slow cooked and comfort food options. There are also a variety of tandoor dishes available, making the menu appealing to both traditionalists and those looking for something a tad more modern.
Creatively infusing Indian spices into their cocktails, Naan Bar is a delightful new addition to the Maltese capital’s quickly developing cocktail scene. The two-floor space feels open and romantic, making it an ideal spot to sip a couple of drinks, or to enjoy a full meal.
