Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery - Marathon Village - Nashville

Marathon Village’s Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery offers guests the opportunity to taste locally made spirits in well-crafted cocktails alongside delicious Southern fare

The bar at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery makes its spirits in-house giving it a distinct advantage when crafting its cocktail menu. Located in Marathon Village, this Nashville all-in-one drinks home offers everything from Southern comfort food to tasting flights to weekly live music.

The cocktail menu features a rotating menu of seasonal drinks alongside a curated list of classics, while the food menu offers everything from a burger and a croque madame to German chocolate cake. Two things that should not be missed are the slushified frozen Old Fashioned made with Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey and Bavarian Soft Pretzels with hot pimento cheese dip.

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Beverage Lead Rachel Ramirez tells us…

Please describe Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

Upon arriving at the distillery, you’ll be greeted by a team member at the front desk and sent to the bar for tastings and cocktails. Our bartenders will walk you through our menu and make recommendations based on your preferences. If it is your first visit, our tasting flights are a great way to get familiar with our products and learn our rich history.

How would you describe Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in a three-word text to a friend that you’re trying to convince to join you?

Inviting, historic, innovative

Other than Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

Located in Marathon Village, we are a very short walk away from local boutiques and great shopping options and other distilleries (a plus for anyone working their way through the Tennessee Whiskey Trail!).

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

Sunday Brunch is a great time to visit. Every Sunday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., we offer an assortment of brunch cocktails to complement dishes like Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict. Great whiskey, food and live music in a relaxed environment.

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

We welcome a combination of Nashville visitors looking for great local spots, whiskey novices and bourbon enthusiasts. Between our flights and craft cocktails, we truly have something for everyone.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

The base of our cocktail menu starts with the whiskey. Our award-winning core selection includes our Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey, Nelson Brothers Bourbon and Nelson Brothers Rye. Our menu includes both classic and rotating seasonal cocktails that are carefully curated to best showcase the flavor profile of each spirit.

Our seasonal selections change based upon availability of ingredients. This time of year, we’re able to get amazing citrus, so we’ve been leaning hard into all things yuzu, bergamot and Meyer lemon. Fresh juice, fresh herbs and house made syrups and cordials are always a must.

For guests interested in something other than whiskey, we have developed a line of new bar-only spirits to help round out our cocktail program. Guests can now order drinks with our vodka, gin, American brandy and amaro. We also serve beer and non-alcoholic cocktails so everyone can join in on the fun.

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

I’m currently loving our Manhattan which is made with our Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon and our own Brier Blend sweet vermouth. Bold, robust, spirit forward – the perfect cocktail for this time of year.

But I would be remiss to not mention the Cold Fashioned – a frozen Old Fashioned made with our Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey. A long-standing fan favorite, this has all the flavors you’re looking for in an Old Fashioned in a fun, nostalgic slushy drink.

How much do drinks cost?

$14

Is there anything to eat?  If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

The Restaurant at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery menu features a refined twist on comfort food infused with Southern flair and local influences with sides and appetizers like fried green tomatoes, herb spätzle and Bavarian soft pretzels, as well as entrées like the Croque Madame, Wagyu steak & eggs and a Niman Ranch double patty smash burger dubbed The No. 5. For dessert lovers, there are tantalizing treats like German chocolate cake and a boozy milkshake made with Louisa’s Liqueur.

My go-to’s are the Bavarian Soft Pretzels with hot pimento cheese dip and our Reuben with house pastrami.

What are the distinguishing features of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery?

Fantastic product, fantastic story, fantastic team. Our Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey recipe dates back to 1860 and guests can sit at the bar looking out onto the production floor and watch the magic happen. Our team is made up of smart, passionate people who are always ready to chat about our products, our history and whiskey production. Guests can spend an entire afternoon with us – enjoying lunch, hopping on a tour of the distillery, and finishing up at the bar for cocktails.

What’s that music we hear playing on the Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery stereo?
