Texas’ King Ranch and Kentucky’s Old Forester have come together again to launched the third edition of their Old Forester King Ranch bourbon
Old Forester and King Ranch have launched their third annual limited-edition whiskey, Old Forester King Ranch. The bourbon honors the legacy and craftsmanship of two iconic brands, celebrating 300 years of combined history from the Brown family of Brown-Forman and King Ranch founder Richard King.
Available only in Texas, the King Ranch Edition is bottled at 105 proof from a proprietary batch of Old Forester Bourbon aged using heavily charred barrels. The whiskey is finished through King Ranch mesquite charcoal, which was created from mesquite trees harvested from the ranch.
A deep maple syrup in color, the whiskey offers aromas of dried cherries, cranberries, toasted pecans, and marshmallows drizzled with sorghum molasses. On the palate, sweet dark chocolate, tobacco and leather spices mingle with toasted and caramelized oak. The finish is long and warming. “This bourbon is rich and bold in taste – the perfect tribute to two rich and bold American brands,” says Old Forester Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo.
“Bourbon lovers across Texas will sip the unique blend of flavors that live up to the legacy of our founder, George Garvin Brown, with quality and taste while honoring the impact King Ranch has had on the Lone Star State – and on American ranching,” adds Trigo. “The first two batches, released in 2022 and 2023, sold very quickly so we are honored to bring this bottle back to shelves in 2024.”
Robert Hodgen, CEO of King Ranch, comments, “We are proud of our continued partnership with Old Forester and looking forward to another release of this special product. Texans have found the whiskey a rare treat and every year have been anxiously anticipating its release each October.”
The King Ranch edition features a suggested retail price of $99.99, and will only be available in Texas. For more information, head over to the distillery’s official website.
In August, Old Forester unveiled the 2024 edition of its Birthday Bourbon. This year’s edition is 12 years old and 107 proof.
