Paradiso Is Stockholm’s Rum Paradise

Paradiso - Stockholm

Situated on artsy Södermalm, Paradiso offers rum-focused cocktails and pours alongside its sister restaurant, Liebling, which makes delicious German dishes.

Neon pink flamingos and a giant selection of French, Spanish, and British rum are the basis of Paradiso, the rum-focused cocktail bar from the same team as Tjoget. The space offers good times and great drinks in trendy Södermalm via its vibrant ethos and packed dance floor. Don’t be surprised to see hands filled with pina coladas or people downing a schnitzel sandwich.

The menu features a mix of classics and signature cocktails, including the locally famous Miami Vice Milk Punch and Stormy in Paradise. If you’re more of a rum neat fan, there is the previous mentioned collection of bottles from nearly 20 counties and they can do tastings as well. Beer and cider are available as well.

Bartender Jayde Henderson tells us…

Please describe Paradiso as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

You open the door to the sound of RnB tunes, a pink glow coming from a neon sign and people returning from the bar, hands full carrying pina coladas. You move towards the bar, you only need to follow the stream of people dancing along to the DJ. At the bar you’re welcomed by the bartender, and notice the massive wall of rum behind them. The bartender helps you navigate through the menu, to find something you like. While waiting for your drink, you look around and see pink and orange lamps, neon flamingo signs, people dancing in between tables, groups sitting in deep conversation. It’s not a big place, but it has an incredibly vibrant atmosphere.

How would you describe Paradiso in a three-word text to a friend that you’re trying to convince to join you?

VIBES. DRINKS. DANCING.

Other than Paradiso, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

We are situated on Södermalm, one of Stockholm’s many islands, which is known for being more laid back. There’s plenty of good vintage shops to explore and or take a walk around the island and enjoy the amazing views! There’s also some amazing bars, we really enjoy Tjoget or Brännerian.

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

Weekdays are underrated! It’s a different vibe than our weekend impromptu dance floor, but it’s the perfect atmosphere to sit and catch up with friends over a cocktail, or sit at the bar and chat with us!

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

We have a very mixed crowd, but generally our guests are in their 20s and usually just want to have a good time! We are a popular spot for dates and also attract a lot of rum enthusiasts which we love.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

The menu is divided into two parts; our signatures, which is where we like to get playful and explore new flavors and rums, and the second part which is a selection of our current rum classics.

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

It’s by far the Miami Vice Milk Punch on our signatures. It is a staple on our menu and purely by word of mouth cultivated a following of people who love it. It’s our twist on the classic Miami Vice, one part Pina Colada and one part frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, where we use milk to clarify it and to it with sweetened coconut cream and salt. It is a must try!

How much do drinks cost?

168 kr

Is there anything to eat? If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

Our food comes from next door, from our sister restaurant Liebling, a German neighborhood restaurant. I would say the Schnitzel Sandwich is the current favorite on the menu.

What are the distinguishing features of Paradiso?

Fun atmosphere, easy going drinks and a vast collection of rums.

What’s that music we hear playing on the Paradiso stereo?

We are known for mostly playing RnB, but we like to feel the vibe of guests and play some afrobeats, house, garage as well.
