New York’s SoHo has two new dining and drinks destinations located inside the same townhouse, Pearl Box and Heroes
The trio behind Tokyo Record Bar in the West Village (Ariel Arce, Aaron Lirette and Kenneth Crum) are bringing their dinner party style success to NYC’s SoHo with the opening of cocktail bar Pearl Box and Heroes—two separate spaces located within the same three-story carriage house. Each level of the three story concept is built to tell its own story, with each delivering different color theories and visual auras.
Pearl Box sits on the third floor and welcomes visitors both through the restaurant and via its own entrance. Designed with the 1970s Playboy era in mind, starting off with the wall-to-wall mirrors that surround the red staircase. Wood paneling, black chairs, and velvet loveseats help provide a sense of intimacy, while trolleys offering everything from caviar and foie gras to fried chicken make you know you’ve entered somewhere special.
The second floor supports what will be the private dining room. Done-up in Tiffany blue, it features a large marble counter and fridges that glow with bottles of wine.
On the bottom floor, Heroes pays tribute to those who inspired the drinks and dining townhouse’s founders. The faces of Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Simone Biles, Kerri Strugs, and even Lucille Bluth float on a mural painted by Indianna Hoover on the soft lavender room’s ceiling.
Chef Aaron Lirette is in charge of the menu, which focuses on seasonal dishes and using the entire animal. And that focus can be seen via the dry-aged locker, which is actually on display near the front of the restaurant. Dishes include turbot served with chile butter and the 30-day dry-aged ribeye.
Lirette was previously chef de cuisine of Acadia and chef of Danny Meyer’s Green River.
The carriage house is located at 357 W. Broadway, New York, NY 10013.

In just the last few weeks, four notables bars have opened up across New York: The Bedford in FiDi, Dear Irving’s third location in Midtown, and Monkey Thief in Hell’s Kitchen, and Clemente Bar above Eleven Madison Park in the Flatiron District.
