Isle of Skye-based Talisker Distillery has unveiled the 2024 bottling of its 30-year-old single malt and it’s priced at $1,690 per bottle
Talikser has unveiled the 2024 edition of 30-year-old single malt whisky. The Isle of Skye-based distillery first introduced the three decade old Scotch in 2006 as part of Diageo’s Special Releases collection, and it has since become an almost annual limited edition release.
According to the brand, the Talisker 2024 30-Year-Old offers aromas of freshly picked red apples and stone fruit, which fade into an aromatic wood spice and vanilla pods with a fragrance of white pepper and dark chocolate. A gentle peppery kick and wisps of warm sea smoke cover the palate alongside orchard fruits, bonfire embers, and pecan fudge. The finish is warm and lingering with whiffs of toffee and more sea smoke.
“This new release of Talisker 30-year-old holds all the classic characteristics of the single malt, yet elevated to new heights,” says Ewan Gunn, senior ambassador for Diageo’s single malt Scotch whiskies. “Soaring with sweet smoke and pointy notes of pepper, this latest release is an elegant and complex expression. The 30-year-old is a consistently exceptional release.”
Bottled at 49.8% ABV, just 2,610 bottles of the whisky have been created, making it the rarest 30 Year Old Talisker to ever be released. The single vintage release has a suggested retail price of £1,300 ($1,690 USD) and is now available on Diageo’s Malts.com website and worldwide through selected retailers.
Last November, Talisker unveiled the third and final release in its Xpedition Series, Talisker Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old. The final addition to the range was finished in ice-fractured oak casks, a new experiment in whisky craft and a first for Talisker.
