The Chestnut is a tequila and mulled wine cocktail that is perfect for winter and represents everything that bar Les Ambassadeurs looks to achieve with its seasonal menus
Combining the spirit of today, tequila, with a time honored classic, mulled wine, the Chestnut cocktail celebrates Les Ambassadeurs’ ability to combine the old with the new. At the center of course are chestnuts, which come from south central France and make the drink something truly unique.
Name the cocktail.
Chestnut.
What inspired the name? What’s this drink’s origin story?
I think our Chestnut cocktail represents perfectly what we’re trying to achieve with this seasonal menu, as it is essentially a cold mulled wine made with Don Julio Reposado tequila, and of course the star of the show, the chestnut. We use some chestnut from the Corrèze region (center/south of France), that we cook and make a syrup with. Finally we make a delicious spicy wine that goes in harmony with the other two ingredients. As it is a mulled wine, we also serve it hot if someone wants to warm up during the cold Parisian winter.
What other drinks belong in its family?
Classic mulled wine
If you like tequila and mulled wine, you should try this drink.
What food is this cocktail best served with?
I think it would be perfect to pair it with one of our desserts, especially our Chestnut and blackcurrant millefeuille to enhance the chestnut flavours of the cocktail.
