A Brooklyn Distillery Blended A 14-Year-Old Bourbon

Widow Jane The Vaults 2022

Red Hook, Brooklyn-based distillery Widow Jane has unveiled The Vaults 2022, the fourth edition in the exclusive series of blended bourbons

Widow Jane The Vaults 2022 blends bourbons ranging from 14 years up to 19 years old. The whiskeys were selected by Master Distiller Lisa Wicker and are proofed with limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines of New York, located 100 miles north of the distillery.

Each installment of The Vaults explores a different finishing wood, from various regions and with different amounts of air seasoning to the staves. The Vaults 2022 finished Missouri Ozark oak casks air-seasoned for three years.

This tight-grain oak brings hints of vanilla, smoke and spice, the reports. Altogether, The Vaults 2022 is characterized by sweet tobacco, leather, vanilla, sarsaparilla, cinnamon, cocoa powder and a hint of seasoned oak campfire.

“An act of congress in 1964 established bourbon as our only true ‘American Spirit’. Tennessee and Indiana bourbons, blended and finished in New York and re-barreled in wood sourced from the Missouri Ozarks: it truly is an American Spirit,” says Wicker. “The Vaults 2022 represents the craftsmanship of the distillers before me, the warehouse men and women, the farmers and the truck drivers and the Widow Jane team. I have the privilege of finishing and blending exquisite whiskey.”

Bottled at 99 proof, The Vaults 2022 launches under allocation, and just 2,000 cases will roll out. It is priced at $250 per 750ml bottle.

Earlier this year, Widow Jane was acquired by Kentucky-based whiskey giants Heaven Hill. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
